Gabrovo is situated on the river Yantra, next to the northern uphill of the Balkan mountain. The town is famous for the big sense of humor of its citizens and has a Humorhouse, which you will have the opportunity to see during the trip. There you can get more information about the way the people from Gabrovo look on life and learn a lot of new jokes. There is an option for visitation of the Planetarium for groups of at least 10 people. The architectural-ethnographic complex Etura is a unique museum, situated 8 km south from Gabrovo. The historical sources tell us that the town owes its vocation to the power of water. In Etura you can see what this means and what water was used for in the past. The complex offers to the tourists 16 samples of the typical architecture from the period of the Bulgarian revival. Four kilometers south from Etura you can visit the Sokolski monastery, which was founded in 1833. The monastery had a literary school, which main purpose was the preparation of teachers. Also the monastery participated in the organizing of revolutionary actions and gave shelter to many Bulgarian detachments. Nowadays the Sokolski monastery is still functioning and there is a museum next to it, where interesting exhibits could be seen.
