The tour includes accommodation 7 nights as per the above program at 3 and 4-star hotels, full board meals /breakfast, lunch, dinner + 5 wine testing and degustation/ throughout the program, dinner on the day of arrival is subject to flight schedule, private car or mini-van (upto 6 pax), minibus or coach for all the above itinerary and program, all entrance fees to museums, monasteries and sites included in the program, road taxes.

Program

1st day. Arrival in Sofia. Sightseeing tour of Sofia - the capital of Bulgaria. Places of interest - the biggest orthodox cathedral on the Balkan peninsula "Alexander Nevski", Roman Ruins of Serdica 3 C., the Saint George Rotunda Church 4 C., the Saint Sofia Basilica Church 5 C., the small so called Russian church, the National theatre "Ivan Vazov", national gallery of fine arts (former royal palace), the Parliament, Sofia University, etc. Lunch. Visit of the National Museum of History and Boyana church, included in the list of UNESCO. Dinner and overnight in Sofia.
2nd day. Breakfast. Departure to Rila Monastery. The biggest monastery on the Balkan peninsula, build in10 C. And included in the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage in Bulgaria. The tour of the monastery complex includes visit of the museum with its impressive collection of precious old manuscripts, icons, jewelry, masterpieces of woodcarving, an ethnographic exhibition of fabrics and carpets, viist of one authentic monk's cell with its typical decoration, the church of the monastery and the Lunch with tasty mountain trout menu. Continue to Damjanitza winery for a wine tasting of the famous wines from the region. Continue to Sandanski - famous Bulgarian spa resort with mineral water. Dinner in a typical tavern with local specialties. Overnight in Sandanski.
3rd day. Breakfast. Proceed to the city of Melnik - the smallest town in Bulgaria (only 300 citizens). Visit of the Rojen monastery (The Rozhen Monastery of the Nativity of the Mother of God is the biggest monastery in the Pirin Mountains in southwestern Bulgaria. It is one of the few medieval Bulgarian monasteries well preserved until today.) and the Kordopolu's house - visit of the winery for a wine tasting of the famous wines from the region. Lunch. Departure to Plovdiv. Dinner at a restaurant with folk show and typical Bulgarian meals. Overnight in Plovdiv.
4th day. After breakfast drive southwards of Plovdiv to visit the Bachkovo Monastery, 11 century, one of the richest galleries of the old Bulgarian art with its exquisite murals and medieval icons. Departure to Brestovitsa - local winery, wine tasting of local wines among which red wine Mavrud, unique Bulgarian sort of grapes and wine. Lunch. After lunch - visit of the unique thracian tomb of Starosel (40km from Plovdiv) and the winery of Starosel - test of 5 wines form the region. Back to Plovdiv. Free time till dinner. Overnight in Plovdiv.
5th day. After breakfast - departure to Kazanlak, the capital of the roses. Visit of the Rose Museum, the Thracian Tomb, Kazanlak, 4 century B.C. , included in the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage in Bulgaria. Time for shopping for Rose products in the museum. Departure for the open air museum of old crafts Etara (Etara is a working museum of old bulgarian trades. Some of them are still being practiced. It is located near the city of Gabrovo, north of the Balkans). Continue to Veliko Tarnovo, the medieval capital of Bulgaria. Dinner and overnight in Veliko Tarnovo.
6th day. Breakfast. Sightseeing tour of Veliko Tarnovo, visiting the royal fortress of Tsarevets. Visit of the residential city of Arbanassi. Sightseeing and visit the Church of Nativity. Lunch. After lunch visit of the Lyaskovets winery - wine test and degustation of Bulgarian cow cheese. Back to Veliko Tarnovo. Free time. Dinner. Overnight.
7th day. Breakfast. Proceed to Pleven and visit of the historical complex of Panorama (Pleven Epopee 1877, more commonly known as Pleven Panorama, is a panorama located in Pleven, Bulgaria, that depicts the events of the Russian-Turkish War of 1877-78, specifically the five-month Siege of Plevna (Pleven Epopee) which made the city internationally famous and which contributed to the Liberation of Bulgaria after five centuries of Ottoman rule). Visit of the Loviko Suhindol - winery with old traditions in producing white and red wine. Lunch. Proceed to Sofia. Dinner at restaurant with folklore program. Overnight in Sofia.
8th day. Breakfast. Free time till departure flight.
