Why you should add Montenegro to your summer plans

Wedged between Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, and Serbia, Montenegro may be a small country but it sure packs a punch. Idyllic natural beauty, towering mountains, stunning coastline, and historic towns all make it a perfect destination to visit in the summer. See why you should add Montenegro to your summer plans!

Bay of Kotor

Jaw dropping scenery, and ancient history make the Kotor Bay a must-see on any Montenegro itinerary. The Old Town is encompassed by walls and mountains, and inside you’ll find cobblestone streets, and lively restaurants. Behind the Old Town, make sure to hike up Mount Saint John to San Giovanni Fortress for breath taking views and epic photo opportunities.

Budva

Montenegro’s most visited destination, Budva, is not to be missed for fans of the beach, history and architecture. Make sure to explore the atmospheric Old Town with lots of buzzing bars and restaurants. With more than 20km of coast around Budva, and a superb Mediterranean climate make it the ideal location for a summer holiday.

Beaches

It can’t be summer without hitting up the beach, lazing on the sand in the warm sun with a beer in hand! Luckily Montenegro has some epic beaches that will delight all sun-seekers and beach lovers. Make sure to head to Budva, Kotor and Ulcinj to relax, soak up the sun and swim in the turquoise waters.

Natural beauty

Montenegro’s natural beauty is breath taking, from rugged mountains, dramatic canyons and magnificent rivers, it is a truly beautiful country. There is unspoiled natural beauty around every corner just waiting to be explored.

History

Nothing about the Balkan history is straightforward, with boundaries continuously changing through the ages. With different cultures and religious groups all leaving their impact on the country, Montenegro is a history lovers dream.
